my body is a hypertext

By Yaz @ 18:18 [ be ]

project number . 20050816
project title . shotcode tattoo
medium . ink or washable tattoo
my identity has shrunk to my skin...
<< I link therefore I am >> says WJM
my tattoo is no more a barcode that one scans
for revealing the identity of a product
the extension of my body is a url
we exist because of the envelope, the image
which is drawn, written, or projected onto it
our skin is a state of mind, a habitat, and our identity
the last private space?
my body is a hypertext

Beautiful picture and very nice design for your blog! I also really like the idea of tatooing your personal shotcode...

Yeap... beautiful picture! Tatooing your shotcode/semacode is a nice idea. Now, your blog can sort of become your virtual identity no ? You talk about your interest in your posts, share personal experience and you introduce yourself in the about page. So why not creating a shotcode (or actually a semacode) that will points to the mobile version of your blog (ie. http://neo-nomad.kaywa.com/mobile/ ). You can then display it on your document/paper/body to let people access your blog in one click!
You will get shortly an email about that :-)

Me again... on yaz request I publish here some informations I sent her (but might be interesting to everybody):

The shotcode included in the picture does not work for one of the two following reasons (or maybe both): 1) too small, 2) the software on the phone can not decode the shotcode because of the noise in the background.
Anyway would be nice to have the shotcode for the neo-nomad mobile blog located at http://neo-nomad.kaywa.com/mobile/

Another thing... there are some differences between a shotcode (http://www.shotcode.com) and a semacode (http://www.semacode.org), one of them is the business model. While shotcode people charged on a per click basis, semacode will be (or is) licensed for commercial use. This make the second one a favorite on the market imho.

Cool concept! :)
Jerome, why do you think a licencing based model is stronger then a performance based model? We've also got licencing opportunities yet most of our customers preffer performance based.

For private and non-commercial use ShotCodes are free by the way.

p.s.
The ShotCode displayed in this cool image doesn't work because it's too small. You should have a 2cm diameter at least.

Hi Dennis... I think so because it is difficult to make financial prediction on how much it will be used but this is just my opinion :-)
Nevertheless I wish you all the best in your enterprise and as for now - and i believe I have told you that by email - Shotcode software and website are much better and much more user friendly...

The cool image is a representation for a concept that I have imagined; needs testing before practice. The precisions about shape and size are of extreme importance... To be continued... There exist a place in Barcelona, where they implant you a tiny small size chip... I have to find the name! More later, and thank you for the interest :)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm mainly interested in it because we're continuously experimenting in order to find the best possible way to provide people with ShotCodes. If you have any ideas, they're always welcome.

PS: The shotcode used for the picture has been slightly modified. When I have signed in to shotcode..., the image I had received to download was truncated, and had “shotcode.com” on it… Has this affected anything? I would like my tattoo to work, be beautiful and simple! Serious... the round design is super cool!
... Connected to a url that I can modify, so I can change “skins,” and identities… It is as if the tattoo loses its permanency!

Hi Jerome,

ShotCodes are not neccessarily based on a price per scan.
ShotCodes can also be bought on a license model for commercial use.
We believe that a not proven technology should be introduced on a price per scan; this so you can experiment with it freely and if nobody uses you don´t lose anything.
If on the other you, as a company, decide you want a fixed price from the beginning, this can be negotiated.

Yaz -

Are you still sporting your shotcode tattoo?

I recently started up a blog on the subject of camera phone readable barcodes. It would be great if you could stop by, check it out, and offer suggestions.

Thanks -

David
