yes, we met at the "mobilities" panel. i enjoyed how yasmine merged associations of mobile technologies with city planning/architecture and the creation of a sense of place when moving through urban terrain. there was true flow to this presentation!
the july edition of "communications of the ACM" (volume 48/nr. 7), "designing for the mobile device", looks interesting (business models, design, cross-cultural study of mobile devices)!

... Yet... One could ask:designing for the mobile individual? Which means maybe designing tools (devices) and contexts... And in which way the contexts influence tools and vice versa...
Extract from the abstract of the "Contextual and cultural challenges for user mobility research" article: "in this article we share some of the essential lessons learned from our projects centering on the early stages of product concept development. Two areas have proved to be particularly challenging in this respect: coping with multiple contexts and multiple cultures in the study of mobility."

when designing devices that enable parallel interaction spaces to the face-to-face experience
(as mimi sheller describes for mobile phones http://www.envplan.com/epd/abstracts/d22/d324t.html ),
then these devices have to be friendly for overlapping media-generated and face-to-face communications. should these devices be rather discreet or very visible-perceptible when they are tools for the mobile individual in multiple social contexts?!
